About: There have been important increases in the quantity and quality of research on mental health and psychosocial support activities in humanitarian crises. However, major gaps remain in the data and evidence around it. These gaps raise questions of accountability for these services in humanitarian responses. Professor Bayard Roberts’ presentation will review some of the gaps, and discuss both priorities for further research and ways to strengthen accountability.

This is 2018’s Dr Chesmal Siriwardhana’s Memorial Lecture.

Biography: Prof Roberts is the Director of the Centre for Global Chronic Conditions at LSHTM, Editor-in-Chief of the BMC journal Conflict and Health, and sits on the steering committee for the Crises Centre.
