UNRWA Funding Cuts – Call for Support

UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East ) is the key UN agency supporting Palestinian Refugees. Following unprecedented funding cuts of up to 83% from the current US government, they are now facing an existential crisis. After these cuts and despite new contributions by other countries,  services including education, medical care and emergency assistance for up to 5.3 million people will cease by this summer.

Scientists, scholars, and experts the world over – including many Crises Centre members – are rallying to co-sign a letter urging support for the UNRWA which will be distributed to all major media outlets in donor countries.  To add yourself as a signatory, please contact crph@aub.edu.lb as soon as possible, or contact the Crises Centre at hhcc@lshtm.ac.uk.
