Access to healthcare for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers in the UK

Ensuring access to healthcare for asylum seekers and undocumented migrants in the UK
– are we doing enough?

Date: 15th May, 2019

Time: 17:30 – 19:00 BST

Venue: John Snow Lecture Theatre B, Keppel St, LSHTM

The Health in Humanitarian Crises Centre and Centre for Global Chronic Conditions are co-hosting a joint seminar on access to healthcare for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers in the UK. The topic of access to healthcare in the UK for overseas visitors is frequently in the news with recent reports from the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the British Medical Association on this challenging topic.  In this discussion, we will focus specifically on asylum seekers, failed asylum seekers, and undocumented migrants. The discussion will include short introductions from our guest speakers and then a panel discussion and questions from the audience.

Chair: Professor Bayard Roberts, LSHTM

Speakers:

Dr Lucy Jones (Doctors of the World)

Dr Ines Campos-Matos (Public Health England)

Dr Jane Hunt (Helen Bamber Foundation)
